As a faithful congregation of the Oklahoma District of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod we joyfully hold to the teachings of the Scriptures as they are confessed in the Small Catechism of Martin Luther, the Augsburg Confession and the entire Book of Concord of 1580.

If anyone is interested in helping with Sunday Services we will have a training session. We need  volunteers to run the sound system (which is on a tablet now, and the clicker that works the power point  presentation. If you would like to help in this ministry please let church office or one of the Elders or trustees  know.  Thank you!

Have you ever noticed the beautiful flower arrangements on the altar during our services? These are just another example of God’s beauty and love. Each month, these are provided by congregation members in honor or in memory of loved ones. If this is something you would be interested in, look for the flower signup sheet in the Narthex or contact any altar committee member for details. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and helping to make our services even more beautiful.

Adios My Friends

I thank my God every time I remember you.  In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart; for whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me.  God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth and insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ — to the glory and praise of God. Philippians 1:3-11

The above is Paul’s opening exhortation to the church at Philippi.  This group of believers was Paul’s pride and joy.  It seems appropriate for me to exhort Trinity Lutheran Church in much the same way.  While I haven’t exactly been in chains (at least no prison you know of ), I appreciate all of you in sharing God’s grace with me.

Adios is an appropriate farewell for us.  The Spanish adios is from a Dios, meaning to God.  And to God be the glory.  I thank all of you as Kathy and I had the opportunity to be a part of Trinity for almost two years.  And since April, Covid-19 brought its own set of new challenges.  Your patience and understanding are a true tribute to the Church.  It has been an inspiration for me to serve this interim.  I have seen joy and laughing and fellowship before, during, and after every worship service.  That’s the way it should be.

Although we were separated for a time during this pandemic, worship continued through our video services and mail-outs.  I thank Brenda Peoples and others who stayed on task, and still do even now, to get God’s Word out to you every week.

I thank the elders for their support.  Meeting with the elders, church council, and even the occasional voter’s meeting was a joy.  It’s always nice to meet with a group of laid-back folks without any tension or frustration.  I also thank Loren O’Hara for his dedication to the young people of Trinity.  Keep up the good work.

For now, it’s time to move on.  You are ripe and ready for your new shepherd, Rev. Aaron Kotila.  May he bless you and keep you in his ministry ahead.  I know you will bless and keep him and his family as you did Kathy and me.  May you continue to support the ministries, pre-school, and PDO at Trinity.

Blessing to all,

Pastor Jeff

“Joy:fully Lutheran” is the theme for The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod through the next convention. This theme focuses on 1 Thess. 5:16–24, in which Paul says to “rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus.” Paul ends the section by saying, “He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.”Joyful, because of God’s faithfulness to His promises. Joyful, because God’s promises are kept in Jesus (2 Cor. 1:20). Joyful, because of God’s love. Lutheran, because it’s all about Jesus: Grace alone. Faith alone. Scripture alone. Christ alone.
Every three years, our Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod meets in convention to determine mission and ministry priorities for the coming three years. For more information and resources about the 2019 National Offering, visit https://www.lcms.org/national-offering. The 2019 offering will remain open until May 2022.
