As a faithful congregation of the Oklahoma District of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod we joyfully hold to the teachings of the Scriptures as they are confessed in the Small Catechism of Martin Luther, the Augsburg Confession and the entire Book of Concord of 1580.

God’s Gift of Forgiveness

On February 22nd, we enter the Lenten season with our Ash Wednesday service. The theme this year will be “God’s Gift of Forgiveness” and every week we will be looking at a penitential Psalm.  During this series we will be seeing what devastating effects sin has on our souls and consciences, but we also see what we receive through God’s great gift of forgiveness that comes to us through our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Lenten schedule and messages are:

Feb. 22nd —   Psalm 6 —    “Save me with your unfailing love” (Imposition of ashes and Holy Communion)
Feb. 29th —    Psalm 32 —  “Hiding from or hiding in God”
March 7th —   Psalm 38 —   “Make haste to help me”
March 14th — Psalm 51 —   “Against you and for me”
March 21st — Psalm 102 — “But you, O Lord, are enthroned forever”
March 28th — Psalm 143 — “Teach me to do your will, for you are my God”

The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther, as with many things, has an answer: "I advise no one to place his child where the Scriptures do not reign supreme."

In February's Lutheran Witness, we unpack Lutheran education and the philosophy from which it stems, focusing on the joy of residential seminary education, instructing Christ's little ones and teaching the faith in the home.

Prayer Partners Wanted
Many people have said that they would love to help with the Piedmont Mission (a.k.a Gift of God Lutheran) BUT they don’t have the time. Well, the first step in church planting is to earnestly ask our heavenly Father for everything that glorifies his name and fulfills his will. This is your opportunity to help. We have started PRAYER PARTNERS for our mission church.

The theme for the first two month of 2012 is two steps forward, one step back.
It is clear that there needs to be a much more concerted effort to attract the young Lutherans who live in the Metro area. Keeping in mind that we are a mission congregation, and that the mission is to share THE GIFT of the Gospel, we first need to develop a core group of Lutherans to be our foundation. We have made some progress in this area, but more core Lutherans would be better.
We are working under the premise, Friends first and faith will follow. The greatest obstacle for people to join a group is always the fear of the unknown. Yet, it is amazing how there is truly only one or two degrees of separation between all of us. Whenever I bring up someone’s name there is always a “ I know them from…” comment. Therefore we endeavor to have gatherings to attract new people. There a number of ideas for events, but no dates YET! Be looking for more info very soon. Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. It couldn’t be done without you. If you want to know how you can be a part of our mission, simply contact Pastor Larson. Rev.matthew.larson@gmail.com or 405-401-3872

Each week you will be sent a prayer request. All you have to do is pray. How simply, yet how vital to the mission our Lord has given us. If you are interested in becoming a PRAYER PARTNER simply send an email to giftofgodlutheran@gmail.com or call Pastor Larson (405)401-3872

"Live Love(d)" is the theme for the next National LCMS Youth Gathering, set for July 1-5, 2013, in San Antonio. Based on 1 John 4:9, that theme "will provide the thematic and theological focus for the Gathering program," according to a Jan. 20 news release from LCMS District and Congregational Services -- Youth Ministry, sponsor of all 12 national Gatherings since 1980.
